Saints miss out on Halls
Saints have missed out on signing Stoke defender John Halls after Reading hijacked the deal at the last minute.
He had already had a medical and agreed terms with Saints before Steve Coppell matched Saints offer.
The fact The Royals can offer a great chance of Premiership football next season probably swung the deal in their favour.
Halls will cost Reading around £250,000. His contract at Stoke was due to expire in the summer and he'd made it clear to them he was looking for a new challenge.
