Battle for Saganowski

Battle for Saganowski

Championship trio Southampton, Burnley and Leicester City are all chasing Polish striker Marek Saganowski.

The Polish striker was a big hit with the Southampton fans last season, scoring 10 goals in 13 games for the Saints.

It is believed that Southampton hold the first option to buy the striker for around £680,000 and Troyes have already reported that Saints have taken the option to bring him to SMS on a permanent deal.

However with no official news coming from the club and with confusion over any possible takeover, both Leicester and Burnley are now sniffing around the striker.

Former Pompey owner and now Leicester Chairman Milan Mandaric told the Echo: 'There are a number of clubs interested; I'm lying in wait. Marek is a player I like.'

While Burnley boss Steve Cotterill added: 'There has been contact, but Southampton have first option to buy him.'

So why are Saints fans being made to wait? We have first option, the clubs have apparently agreed the deal, so why are we risking losing him by putting the deal off?

Thanks for that Midge. I've heard that Saga will sign by the end of the week, but i`ll wait for it to be announced before getting excited!
