Black cats in for Baird?

Chris Baird could be leaving saints.

He has been subject to a 1million bid from Fulham, The Cottagers bid was rejected by George Burley as it was deemed unacceptable.

Sunderland won the Championship last season but are one of the teams likely to be in or around the Drop Zone next season.

Baird was Saints player of the season, and has handed in a transfer request. A much bigger bid would need to be tabled by the black cats to tempt Gorge Burley to allow the Northern Ireland international leave.

With Saints struggling at the back the possible sale of Baird be important to the saints promotion push.
