Thomas signs on

George Burley made his first defensive long term signing this summer when he snapped up Wayne Thomas from championship rivals Burnley!

He cost £1million, thats the most money we have spent this summer.

It was obvious saints needed to do something at the back. Saints had a leaky defence last season, then Bale and Baird left. Claus Lundekvam got injured and Powell suspended meant saints would have a weakened defence for the opening day. Alan Bennett had never played in England before and Chris Makin was out of position. The defence is currentley at its weakest but the signing of the quick centre half should help the defence.

Thomas put pen to paper on a 3 year deal. He is looking forward to a new challenge down here on the South Coast!
