£6 million plus John for Kenwyne

£6 million plus John for Kenwyne

Roy Keane's inflated summer spending spree continued this evening, when Sunderland clinched the signature of Saints' striker Kenwyne Jones, for £6 million.

Kenwyne's expected departure, after handing in a transfer request and refusing to play in last weekends home fixture with Stoke, has been softened by the exchange of Stern John.

John is Trinidad and Tobago's record goalscorer with 67 goals in 100 appearances. 'The Postman' is vastly experienced with the Championship, having previously played for Nottingham Forest, Birmingham City, Coventry City, Derby County and the 'Black Cats' as well in England's second tier.

He was never worth £6 million so to bring in a replacement and the cash is a good deal. Especially considering our finances.

Are you happy with that bit of business? I think £6 million is a lot of money.
