Quashie makes late Baggies move

Quashie makes late Baggies move

Saints fans had been expecting it all day, but it started to look like we'd fail to offload beleaguered Captain Nigel Quashie before the transfer window shut at midnight.

The Scottish midfielder managed to complete his £1.4 million move late last night, passing a medical after the Baggies goalless draw at Charlton.

The deal was held up as Quashie also had the option of moving to Glasgow Rangers on loan. There was also apparent interest from his former club Pompey and Middlesborough.

Quashie, 27, joins another relegation battle with West Brom after Harry Redknapp signed him for Saints in last season's transfer window.

Redknapp quickly made Quashie captain and the Scot made 38 appearances for Saints scoring 6 times. He looked like a solid, hardworking player for much of his time at St Mary's but has recently failed to produce the same level of performance, looking increasingly frustrated and uninterested.

We wish him the best of luck for the future, and in his bid to avoid the drop at The Hawthorns.
