Help Ron!

Saints fans will no doubt need to come together and dig deep, this time for club legend Ron Davies.

Ron Davies played for saints 240 times and scored 130 goals.

So why does Ron need out help? He needs a hip replacement, costing thousands of pounds.

The Campaign called Give it to Ron aims to Raise 10,000 so the saints legend can avoid being in a wheelchair.

Rons 'Spring healed leap' no doubt took a toll on his hips, many of his 130 saints goals where towering headers.

Saints fans can help out the 65 year old legend by buying a Programme on sunday against Cardiff, the price has been raised to 3.50 to give the extra 50p to the funds.

Donations can also be made, Anyone who would like to post a donation please make the cheque payable to: Sarah Luker, Give it to Ron, St.Marys Stadium, Britannia Road, Southampton, Hampshire SO14 5PF. Or hand in a donation at the Clubs megastore or West Quay store.

Saints rallyed well to fund the Ted Bates Statue and should all rally again to help someone who will always have a place in the clubs heart.

All fans who make a donation will be entered into a draw to win a famous Le Tissier picture drawn by Ron Davies himself, there are 277 prints to be given away.

Good Luck To Him.....But He Could Get A Hip Op On The National Health Service....!!

Good luck, It would be nice if you can raise the money for one of your old players.

your boys took one hell of a beating. up v owls

Big Ron also played for Pompey so it's sad to see a good footballer fall on hard times. My question is who helps the poor people with the same problem, the Government I suppose.
pompeygray
good luck to him...shame that he is in this position but brilliant that the club and the fans are doing all they can to help him.....
ernshaw
the town will trash you tomorrow!!!
townsam
Hope you raise enough for Big Ron
pentonpompey
A true Saints great. Hope everything works out for him!
sandgroanun
Mickowl and townsam are both very sad, this is about a player who needs a helping hand from the fans. The fans of clubs like Southampton would have a whip round and help out a great player for the club. The reason why he can't get a hip on the NHS is because he is retired over in America, although he often writes and draws for the local paper down here.

I am a younger saints fan who didnt have the privallage of seeing Ron play. I have seen the interview of giveittoron.co.uk and I personally found it quite moving to see someone that cared so much for a club that gave so little by modern standards. He should be held up as an example to the young players that leave saints at the earliest opertunity. It would be nice if players past and present showed their gratitude and, having done better out of their relationship with saints, passed a little to ron.

I hope LINGER RON gets the help he needs, but I am still wondering if my last employer is going to help me in a time of need. Ron should have put money away for a rainy day. I bet he lived it up like many footballers and was financially uneducated. One side of me says help the old buggar with the other saying why ?
pompeygray
He was in Fairness passed his sell by date when he played for us, but we swapped him for George Graham with Man utd and he was seen on MOTD the weekend after, any GG was ny all that good for us either so we swapped him for David Kemp who fantastic. we then went on to slip down and down in to old 4th Division and nearly went bust several times where as you stripey scum bags went on to three cup final and good standard of football---but NOW ITS ALL CHANGED AND YOU ARE ON THE SLIPPY SLIDE. ENJOY YOUR DERBY'S WITH ALDERSHOT.
