Andrew Davies signs for saints

Youngstar Andrew Davies has signed from Middlesboro for an undisclosed fee, which is reported to be around about £1milion.

The saints number 35 has impressed on loan and finally signed a deal. He has been touted by saints supporters as the long term replacement for Claus Lundekvam.

George Burley told the official website: 'He is young and has a bright future ahead of him, there is no doubt in my mind that he has premiership quality.'

He turned in many impressive performances and his move is great news for all 3 parties, Southampton who need a long term centre back to replace Lundekvam, Middlesboro where he was surplus to requirements, and Andrew Davies who has a bright future, hopefully with the saints.

He is expected to be the only long term signing this January.

Davies is a great signing, probably the best out of the loan signings. Saints fans will be disapointed with the news that Colchester have signed Phil Ifel, however i think that saints have the better player. Who knows what else the transfer window will bring, perhaps a full back?

Well you have to look at the money paid, Davies 1mil and Ifil will be just over 350k if all add-ons are completed so he should be.
