Palace vs Saints - Preview

The Saints are set to travel to Selhurst Park tonight, to get a quick recovery from the disappointment of Saturday's fixture.

Despite conceding a late equalizer against Sheffield Wednesday, the Saints remain unbeaten in four games. Poortvliet's boys will look to build on that when they face Neil Warnock's side tonight.

Palace, similarily to Saints are unbeaten in four. The Eagles will be looking to sneak into the play-offs tonight with a win over the Hampshire side.

Following Saturday's draw, Southampton have the worst home form in the league, so an away fixture just two days after does not seem the worst prospect.

Vital Quotes:

'Crystal Palace are a physical side,' the Dutchman said. 'They are a good side with a lot of individual creative players. Hopefully they will have used a lot of physical energy on Saturday because it is also only two days between the games for them and that is a short recuperation time.'

Crystal Palace Team News:

Striker Alan Lee, who joined from Ipswich Town this season may be on the bench tonight, after recovering from a hamstring injury.

James Scowcroft, who scored a hat-trick at St. Mary's last season for the Eagles could also play after recovering from a hamstring problem.

Experienced midfielder Shaun Derry, could start in the centre of midfield for Neil Warnock tonight.

Player to watch: Ben Watson

With five league goals this season, the 23 year old will look to stamp his authority in the midfield and continue his impressive goal tally for the season.

Southampton Team News:

Youngster Morgan Schniederlin is in contention to start tonight, after missing Saturday's match with a hamstring problem.

Centre back's Michael Svensson (achillies) and Wayne Thomas (knee) remain out for the Saints.

Loanee's Tomas Pekhart (foot) and Ryan Smith (shoulder) are close to a recovery, but will miss out on tonight's game.

Player to watch: Bradley Wright-Phillips

Having ended his goal drought at the Madejski Stadium with two goals, the ex-Man city striker will be looking to add from Saturday's fine strike and help the Saints get three points in South London.

The two sides have played 46 times, with Saints winning 26 compared to Palace's 16.
