Tuesday 31st August
Southampton will kick-off their defence of the trophy won at Wembley last season by hosting Swindon.
Southampton will be determined to do a lot better than in the two games which we played against Swindon last season. Losing both games 1-0.
Brazilian Guly do Prado may be more involved after his run-out against Bristol Rovers.
Adam Lallana may be rested after coming off at half-time in the same match.
Dan Seaborne is close to being fit but Lee Holmes and Frazer Richardson are both still out.
Lee has been really unlucky so far this season but his goal scored late at Rovers on Saturday may well start him on a scoring run.
Former Saint David Prutton is suspended after getting sent off in the MK Dons matcjh. He could be released by Simon Ferry or Michael Timlin.
Proved to be a thorn in our side last season and is a player we have to watch closely.
The head to head shows Saints have a clear statistical advantage over the Robins at home. Apart from last seasons defeat we rule the roost having won 13 times, drawn 2 and lost twice. Swindon will maybe point to the fact that we have only met the once in our new ground and that was in their win last time out.
Mr Darren Sheldrake from Surrey takes control of the match. His assistants are Mr H Lennard and MR M Thompson. The Fourth Official will be Mr W Norcott.
Even though we have said goodbye to Alan Pardew and have Dean Wilkins in charge for this game I am going for a home win. 3-1.
Sat 4th September
Saints v Rochdale 3pm
Carlisle v Swindon 3pm
