Sheffield Wednesday vs. Southampton

Hillsborough

Saturday 25th September

3pm

Sheffield Wednesday v Southampton

Wednesday have started the season better than Saints but have hit a spell where they have lost their last three matches.
Saints drew at home to Colchester after losing their last four, so both teams will be more hungry than usual for a win.

Vital Quotes

Clinton Morrisonis hoping to start against Southampton and he told the Wednesday Player, I'm surprised they've struggled so far with the talent they've got. They are a threat because you know at any time they are capable of beating any team three or four nil, but hopefully we'll be the ones who put on a good show.'
'The most important thing is that we get the first goal. If you don't score when you are on top, then you are never going to win games.'

Sheffield Wednesday Team News:

Tommy Miller and Gary Teale are available now which could lead to some changes. Former Saint Jon Otsemobor could also come into the picture even though he has yet to play a league game for Wednesday.

Player to watch: Clinton Morrison

Clinton has a point to prove and could be a big threat to the Saints if he starts.

Southampton Team News:

Aarom Martin is hoping to return after missing two games with a niggling back injury. David Connolly is out with an abdominal strain and Adam Lallana and Frazer Richardson are still recovering from their injuries.

Player to watch: Rickie Lambert

Rickie has come close a couple of times to starting a goal scoring spree and as he gains match fitness he is more likely to finally find the net. Especially if we have a better service from the wings.

Match Facts & Stats

Wednesday have a very good record against Southampton at Hillsborough.
They have won 21 matches, drawn 14 and lost only 5. The last two meetings have gone to Wednesday with Saints not scoring.

Ref Watch:

Mr Graham Salisbury officiates. Mr M Duncan & Mr C Kavanagh assist. Mr D England is 4th official.

Match Prediction:

With stats against us and with us having had such a poor start this could be a very important game for us. A draw or better could give us all a lift. 1-1

Fonte was out because of a thigh injury so Jaidi had to play and he played a big big game for us.
