Saints v Cherries Preview

This is a game that I have been looking forward to for a good while and now as the match looms the anticipation is rising further.

Nigel Adkins, Saints manager has said, ' I can't wait for it,derby days are special days, it'll be be the first opportunity for myself to experience a derby at Southampton.'

Eddie Howesaid about the game, ' We are the underdogs, but we don't mind that tag because it probably suits us. We are confident that we can perform as we have been and if we do that, we will give Southampton a good game.'

David Connolly,Oscar Gobern, Paul Wotton and Frazer Richardson are all getting closer to their returns after their lay-offs. Lallana is still fighting to regain full fitness as is Rickie Lambert and Lee Barnard.

Rickie is still showing signs of needing games but he could be our talisman tomorrow and if luck is on his side for once could get us up and running.

Striker Michael Symes is hoping to continue his good form.Loanie Adam Smith could keep his spot at right-back.Tim Stephenson is ruled out after damaging knee ligaments.

If fit Symes could be the main threat having netted three times in two games.

The stats show that to date we have met 10 times at home. The last meet was in 1960 and we edged the game 4-3. So far we have won six and drawn four and have yet to lose.

Mr Kevin Wright officiates. Mr C Berry & Mr O Saliy assist. Mr L Betts is 4th official.

This will be a hard game but I am hopeful of a 2-1 win.
