Sunderland vs. Saints

Mackems v Saints Preview

Saints travel north to the Stadium of Light to tackle a Sunderland outfit that like them is nearly safe from relegation. The game being played on Sunday due to the FA Cup Final taking precedence on Saturday.

As things stand both sides will be banking on cup finalists Wigan failing to win at Arsenal on Tuesday, and hopefully losing to the gunners who are still embroiled in a fight for a Champions League place next season.

I actually believe that both teams are now safe as I just do not believe that Wigan can gain two victories in their last two league games to keep the pressure on.

Saints will be looking for only their fouth win away from home, and will be trying to gain revenge for the 1-0 defeat suffered to the Mackems at St Mary's earlier this season.

Saints have now gone four games without a win and will be hoping that they can end their winless run with just the home game vesus Stoke remaining after this weekend.

Vital Quotes:

Sunderland Team News:

Saints still have Ramirez and Fox suspended. Morgan Schneiderlin could be fit to return which would be a big plus and it is hoped that Guly do Prado will be fit.

Player to watch: Morgan Schneiderlin

Morgan is an essential cog in the Saints wheel and can help keep the Mackems at bay with his all action play.

Saints Team News:

Steven Fletcher is out and Stephane Sessegnon and Craig Gardner are both suspended. Connor Wickham could return from injury.

Player to watch: Simon Mignolet

Mignolet could be the difference between Saints getting a win and defeat.

Match Facts & Stats

Sunderland have the edge at home with 11 wins, 6 draws and just 6 Saints wins.

Ref Watch:

Mike Dean will referee the game. Assisted by Mr J Collin and Mr J Brooks. Martin Atkinson is the fourth official.

Match Prediction:

With neither side wanting to lose I go for a 1-1 scoreline.

This could be a good game to watch as both teams will be a lot happier seeing Wigan throw three points away as they did.
