Saints v Derby - Preview

Saints take on another of George Burley's former clubs at St Mary's this afternoon, with the visit of managerless Derby.

Saints Team News:

The match is the first oppotunity for Burley to play his new signings, striker Peter Madsen and full-back Alexander Ostlund.

Jim Brennan and Darren Potter may also make their home debuts.

With David Prutton sidelined with an ankle injury Andrew Surman is likely to keep his place in the starting line up, the youngster scored on his debut in the 2-1 defeat at Plymouth on Wednesday.

Djamel Belmadi is also still out with an Achilles problem.

Kamil Kosowski may return from a hamstring injury.



Player to watch: Peter Madsen

The Danish international signed from Cologne this week and should make his debut for Saints today.

His pedigree should be a real bonus if he can get fully fit. Hopefully alongside a revived Pahars, we have found some real quality up front.

Derby Team News:

Seth Johnson is doubtful with a knee injury.

Richard Jackson and Paul Peschisolido will both miss the match for family reasons.

Tomasz Hajto should return to play against Saints, only a week after signing for Derby.

Player to watch: Inigo Idiakez

George Burley is well aware of the Spaniard's quality, and was reportedly hoping to bring him to St Mary's in the transfer window.
