Reading v Saints - Preview

Saints make the short trip to Berkshire to face high flying Reading, in the televised Friday night fixture.

I imagine the game was originally scheduled for live screening as a possible top of the table clash; but it hasn't quite worked out that way unfortunately.

Geroge Burley (saintsfc.co.uk)

'Reading have had an incredible season. They have been pushing for promotion in recent years but no-one could have envisaged just how well they have done'

'Full credit to Steve Coppell who has bought wisely and brought some good players in and got them working very hard for each other'

'We will have to be at our very best and work extremely hard if we are to get the right result tonight - but it can be done'

'Reading are fantastic at home. The key is their work-rate and they score a lot of goals so we know it will be tough but we are looking forward to having a good crack at them.'

Reading Team News:

Reading's main injury concern is defender Ibrahima Sonko who will face a late fitness test after he picked up a knee injury against Birmingham on Tuesday.

Saints Team News:

Saints are likely to again be fielding an unfamiliar side, with three further signings this week. Striker Grzegorz Rasiak, winger Jermaine Wright and midfielder Richard Chaplow are all available to play in the match.

Marian Pahars and Kenwyne Jones could both miss the game with a virus.

Djamel Belmadi, Kamil Kosowski, Matt Oakley and David Prutton are all still sidelined through injury.

Hopefully the midweek signing from Spurs can make an immediate impact and show some of the form he showed last time he played under George Burley.
