Saints took almost 1500 fans to coventry who saw Burley and his team get a good point against administration dodgers Coventry City.
Saints looked good in the early stages and won a corner after just 30 seconds of play, Wright-Phillips getting to the byline and skacel then took the corner which was cleared.
Bradley Wright-Phillips found himself with time and shot at the keeper, he dived and tipped it into the path of Stern John who tapped into an empty net, but then the flag was raised by the linesman, after just 3 minutes.
Saints had much the better of the opening stages, passing the ball in a well balanced 4 man midfield, with Bradley Wright-Phillips got wide on occasions.
The Sky Blues couldn't get near the saints, Safri was brought down late by some of his former team mates, the only criticism saints could have was that Jason Euell and Bradley Wright-Phillips looked almost inaffective at times. Bradley Wright-Phillips was caught offside on about 5 occasions in the first 20 minutes.
The changing point of the game came on 17 minutes, Stern John ran towards the coventry goal, he played the ball past 2 defenders and Ward blatantly put out a hand to change the path of the ball, inside the penalty area, and the ref didn't give it, much to the fury of saints staff and fans.
Just one minute after not getting the penalty saints deserved Coventry took the lead, The impressive Mifsud hit a hot which looped off Euell and into the path of Mc Kenzie, his shot was magnificently saved but JAY TABB nodded home infront of an empty net, but he appeared to be offside when Mc Kenzie took his shot, it was already clear it wasn't saints day.
End to end football didn't produce too many clear cut chances, the best falling to Wright-Phillips after Stern John flicked on for him, he had time to shoot and pick his spot but doddled on the ball and the defender took it from him on the stroke of half time.
Half time: Coventry City 1 Southampton 0
Former saint Leon Best was a handfull for Davies all day, his shot just after half time from 20 yards was well saved by Davis who hung onto it.
From then it was all Southampton, Hammill had a shot blocked for a corner and Wright-Phillips went searching for the ball, only to be virtually inaffective.
The eqauliser on 59 minutes started at the back, Davies good run was brought to an abrupt stop, Safri and Surman stood over it, Surman did a cleaver dummy and safri put a pin point ball into the box, Jason Euell rose and flicked it on to BRADLEY WRIGHT-PHILLIPS! who scored for saints.
Stern John and Bradley Wright-Phillips linked up well from that point as the fans who were jubilant before kick-off were restless and getting rather annoyed with the players on the pitch. Wright-Phillips spin shot just one chance that went begging.
Wright-Phillips had a golden chance to win the game for the saints on 77 minutes, the ball went through the back line and Wright-Phillips found himself free on the edge of the area, his shot rolled just wide, much to the dispair of every saints fan in the country.
Surman had a chance on 90 minutes, his 20 yard shot was well saved from the greek keeper in the home goal.
Coventry had a corner after makeshift right back Wright put the ball behind for a corner, the ball in was towards Adebola who's header was cleared off the line, even though the whistle had gone for a foul.
