A Saints Review So Far

A Saints Review So Far
With over a third of the season played, it's time to take stock and look at where Saints are today. Yes, they have suffered three back to back defeats and only garnered one point from the last 12 possible, but I am in no way disheartened, or pessimistic about the rest of the season.

Without looking for excuses, Saints recent results can be attributed to a cruel dose of hard luck against Arsenal, day light robbery from Manchester United and one of their best performances this season from Manchester City. Even die hard ex-United and fan Gary Neville, described United's performance as getting away with murder.

With the turmoil of a manager and a mass exit of 7 players (including 2 very expensive misfits, i.e. Ramirez and Osvaldo) leaving the club, I would have been very happy with a mid table position come the end of the season. Instead however, we have all been treated to the talents of some great new signings and a new look team melding together remarkably quickly to produce a very entertaining and mainly winning team. The doom mongering pundits and less pessimistic Saints fans have all been proved wrong, and Saints continue to defy the odds and are challenging at the top end of the table on merit. Long may that continue.

As for the rest of the season, I am very hopeful that under the diligent guidance of Ronald Koeman, we will finish in the top six and with a little luck in our side can reach a Wembley cup final. When all is said and done, considering Saints size in relation to other Premier league clubs, can Saints really ask for much more than that?

Living on this side of the Atlantic I am very fortunate to be able to watch every single Saints league game of the season, so although I can only get to see them in the flesh a couple of times a season, I do feel I can evaluate them from afar with some knowledge.

So onwards and upwards for Saints and here's to getting back on track with a win against Burnley on Saturday.
