Southampton got the win that was expected after their sterling recovery and fightback on Saturday. Charlton had escaped with a point after nicking a goal late on in the match at the Valley after Saints had dominated for long spells. After scoring in the tenth minute it looked as though we might run away with the game but were unable to find another clinical finish. With half-time we were happy to be in front but desperate for a second goal. When it came it was another Barnard special and the nerves were no longer to be felt. We ran the game for the vast majority of the time and in the end the game was comfortably won.
